  • ISTANBUL-PAINTING&MAPPING Painting and mapping at the Dutch consulate in Istanbul Turkey.
    As a part of the celebration for 400 years of diplomatic relations between the Turks and the dutch, the consulate asked me and Johan van Manschot to paint a piece on their wall.

  • SEYMOURBITS PUTITBACKDOWN Seymour Bits - Put It Back Down

    Directed by: Michiel ten Horn & Maarten Berkers

    When Seymour Bits a.k.a. Bas Bron asked us to make a video for his track Put It Back Down, we asked him what it was about. He replied; “ Booze, clubbing, shaking asses, dancing buttocks and maybe some tits?“ And that is exactly what we created. Although, our interpretation of it.
    This resulted in a bizarre multicolour trip that formed a round faceless chicken trapped in a wonderland called delirium. We worked with four different animators on this project each living in another city. So there was a big challenge to keep the look and feel in the same style as the original artworks made by Michiel. We found our inspiration by watching old animations such as He-man and the work of John K. which we really liked when we were kids. We tried to adept the cool design style for the Seymour Bits clip.         2011 Animation, Computer Animation, Music Production
  • R&R GROOOVE XPRESS - TI AMO (DE LA FONQUE) I made this video for my friends of R&R Grooove Xpress for their hitsingle Ti Amo ( de la fonque ).

    Kid Sundance & R0nes are the two masterminds who form R&R Grooove Xpress. They’re showing their Funky Electro/Disco/Boogie roots on this dancefloorfiller. This is the first official R&R Grooove Xpress song. Currently, Kid Sundance and R0nes are working hard on new material. Meanwhile, suck on this sweet lollipop.

  • AGRIMARKT Together with singer/comedian Katinka Polderman I made these two animations for dutch supermarket chain Agrimarkt.

    They have a growing range of organic, fairtrade, sustainable and local products. The above animation is a comical guide for the customers and explains the signs of the products in the supermarket.

    One Agrimarket supermarket experiments with a system where you can scan and pay your own purchases. The second animation explains the benefits of using this new technology.         2012 Animation, Illustration, Music
  • DE CAFITESSE SMOOTHROAST! Shop Around asked me to make a animation for Douwe Egberts, the largest and oldest coffee supplier from Holland.
    Douwe Egberts launched a new coffee for her business coffee machines called Cafitesse.

  • WEGWIJS IN ARBEIDSVOORWAARDEN Advertising agency Greenberry commissioned me and Tom Bogman from Drön, on a campaign for Centraal Beheer Achmea to promote their book.
    This book is an indispensable reference work on conditions for entrepreneurs, managers and HR professionals.

  • ABN AMRO YOUTH CAMPAIGN Advertising agency Selmore commissioned me a campaign for Dutch bank ABM Amro to promote a youth savings account.

    I asked Eric van den Boom from Boomartwork to create the main campaign image of a skater kid for use instore on POS, and on the screen of cash machines. With help from Tom Bogman and Nanneke Linders we created banner animation and provided artwork for a flash game and an AR game.         2011 Animation, Drawing, Illustration
  • CAPGEMINI Explanimation Shop Around asked me to make an intern explanimation for Capgemini .
    Capgemini is one of the world's foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services.

    My task was to visualize Capgemini as a company who build bridges between the IT the business branche.
    I adapt the serious story and came up with the building site approach.

  • HUKANTEEHANG HU-KANTEE-HANG is the title of the track I animated for Dutch hip-hop formation Boomoperators. This video was my graduation project at the School of Visual Arts Utrecht. The lyrics spit by MC Rescue are used as a guide to visualize the video. The audio of Kid Sundance is energetic and rough, I express this visually by using a hasty paste, limited colours, strong contrasts and dirty backgrounds.

    All put together I tried to make a sleek rollercoaster ride which would feel like one camera movement switched between live-action shots, and animation on paper. I filmed the artists and two poodles in front of a blue screen and drew 1500 animation frames manually on A3 paper with ink and brushes.         2011 Animation, Illustration, Music Production
  • STEENPUIST Steenpuist is a video we made for Dutch rapper Steen (Steen is the Dutch word for Brick). In The Netherlands Steen is well known for his explicit songs and behaviour on stage.

    The song Steenpuist (which is the Dutch word for Boil) and the lyrics, like most of his lyrics, contain references to horrible diseases and sexual disorders. We had all artistic freedom in this project, so we let our imagination go wild to make the filthiest, greasiest and nastiest video we ever did. We could make it very disturbing, but with references to popular culture, over the top humour and animation, we tried to keep it interesting to a larger public.

    When the video was released, it became sort of a viral on Internet, and unfortunately in the end it got banned.

  • BNN - BADGASTEN Animation for a Dutch improvisation comedy television show broadcasted by BNN. One part of the show was entirely shot in front of a green screen that got animated afterwards by me and two other animation studios.

    The concept for this project was to make lively wild cartoon animations that follow the actions of the actors. The actors played a roll entirely based on suggestions and quotes from the live studio audience and presenter. I got all artistic freedom to create the worlds and attributes the actors suggested, due the short production time of three weeks per episode.         2011 Computer Animation, Television, Illustration
  • HONDA T-SHIRT In springtime of each year I drive with my 175cc Honda motorcycle to Luxembourg. Together with a big group of Honda 4-stroke moped enthusiasts we rent a cabin and enjoy large quantities of red meat and cold beer.
    As a souvenir I design each year a shirt.

    For this years design I took a standard CD50 and tweaked it to a vicious looking cafe racer.

  • OHRA YOUTUBE TAKE OVER Shoparound asked me to make a game like Duckhunt for a Youtube takeover campaign from OHRA, a large Dutch insurance company.

  • HI HIGHLIGHTS Together with Ottograph I made these artworks for the Hi-lights campaign from Hi, a dutch telecom/ cellphone company.
    The artwork was made on location with spraycans.

    The artwork is used instore in 40 Hi shops across The Netherlands as displays, campaignwalls, panels, window stickers and more.
    As print door to door flyers and advertising in newspapers.
    On Internet as in banners on several websites.

  • TRANSFORM This video was made for Elsevier.
    The design concept of the Transform video was based on KAPLA, small wooden construction planks that are used by kids as a toy. By adding the simple white lines we visualized a helper who helped the builder to gain his goal. By using these both simple expressions, the 2D lines and 3D animated KAPLA planks, came together well. The final video was clean and easy to understand.

  • WNF POSTERZINE Resevoir Dolls connected me to Youngworks. I made this illustration for a new WWF campaign. WWF has a donor program aimed at young people between 12 and 18 years. This program teaches young people about protecting nature. Here is the Illustration I made to be used in the form of a Poster Zine.   • ANV Together with illustrator Eric van den Boom I collaborated on a short animation for Spanish insurance company ANV. Eric provided artwork and illustrations, and I did the overall compositing, animation and editing.

    This animation is in use worldwide and the typo and voice over are translated in Dutch, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese.         2011 Animation, Computer Animation, Illustration
  • GELDROP 3D Together with Eric van de Boom en Marjolein Rutgers we made and develop six designs for Woonbedrijf Eindhoven.

    The works are made of several layers of MDF wood. They were painted and constructed by 25 workers of Woonbedrijf within 4 hours on a teambuilding day.

    This project was very challenging, due the short time notice. We developed a clever method to construct it with simple forms and stapler machines.

  • COCOON EXPO Together with Eric van den Boom I painted 56 single canvases forming one giant caterpillar. Each canvas was interesting to look at and for sale.

    Exhibition was held 9th of may 2010 in the Outland art gallery at the Zeedijk in Amsterdam.

  • DKTB This animation I made at my second year at the Utrecht School of Arts.
    It is about a alien that lands on the surface of our earth but directly got eaten by a giant worm.
    This action causes an reaction which goes on and on.

    Could be better but I still like it a lot!
